A delegation from the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) of St Kitts and Nevis started their official visit to the Federation on Monday. Prime Minister Terrance Drew labelled it as an event for “reinforcing ties” and “exploring avenues” for enhanced collaboration between the United Kingdom and St Kitts and Nevis.
As per official releases, the delegation arrived earlier this week and includes dignitaries like Daniel Kawczynski- Chair of the APPG-SKN, Lisa Cameron- Vice Chair of the APPG-SKN; and Scott Sherlock- Parliamentary Aide in the Office of Daniel Kawczynski.
The delegation met with Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew and other Ministers and members of the parliament for more advanced discussions on topics such as bilateral ties and trade, among others.
“The primary goals of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) revolve around advocating for the Federation’s concerns within the UK across diverse sectors and fostering the growth of trade opportunities between the two countries,” added Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew in a Facebook post earlier on Monday.
The APPG said they are committed to deepening partnerships and fostering greater opportunities for bilateral trade between the United Kingdom and St Kitts and Nevis.
The inauguration of the All-Party Parliamentary Group earlier this year within the House of Commons signified a crucial juncture for St Kitts and Nevis.
This collective endeavour has undertaken two fundamental aims that underscore its significance. Firstly, it serves as an advocate for the interests of the Caribbean country within the United Kingdom. It also aims to be the voice of St Kitts and Nevis on the UK’s political stage, ensuring its concerns are effectively represented.
Besides this, the APPG also plans to bolster trade possibilities between the two nations. Recognizing the mutual benefits of robust economic ties, the delegation said that the APPG-SKN is dedicated to fostering an environment conducive to trade expansion.
During the tour to St Kitts and Nevis, the delegation added the group also aims to pave the way for enhanced collaboration, leveraging the strengths of both St Kitts and Nevis and the United Kingdom to unlock new avenues of economic growth and prosperity.
The current official visit of the delegation to the Federation is a concrete embodiment of these core objectives, as it seeks to translate vision into action and fortify the bonds between the nations.
