After death of Romanian baby, 57,000 people sign petition against baptism

World: After the death of a Romanian baby, 57,000 people signed petition against the baptism ceremony on social media.

Recently, a Romanian baby died after a baptism ceremony in which infants are baptized in holy water three times.

The 6-week-old infant was hastened to a hospital in cardiac arrest on Monday and died a few hours later, the autopsy unveiling liquid in his lungs, Agence France-Presse has confirmed.

The tragedy put massive pressure on the Orthodox Church to change baptism rules. This unfortunate incident compelled people to question the orthodox church. They are facing heavy criticism. Around 57,000 people have signed an online petition to modify how the ritual is conducted.

Prosecutors have initiated a manslaughter investigation against the priest in the city of Suceava. According to reports, Local media outlets reported several similar incidents in recent years.

People consider it brutal, and several people denounced it via online modes. But the question is on the name of culture how many deaths we have to witness.

Baptism is a Christian ritual and tradition that is displayed on infants, which is also seldom called Christening. It is a rite of admittance into the Christian Church through the usage of water, just as Jesus Christ was immersed in the River Jordan.

People designated this incident as brutality as a six-week baby died and lost his life due to the culture. People are sad, and parents in are grief. This is not just the loss of a living but a loss of a baby whose future was anticipating. If that baby survived, that baby could have a bright future, but now nothing.

When it comes to rituals, nobody questions the tradition which was followed by ancestors, and their generations have to follow the same. We need to modify all these lethal practices, which can save lives, not to take them.
