A decomposed body found in Corentyne Berbice

Georgetown, Guyana: A decomposed body of a woman was found in the house at Number 63 Village, Corentyne-Berbice, on Wednesday morning.

Notably, the deceased woman has been identified as 49-year-old Yogenie Nankisore. The woman was last seen alive six months ago.

It is to be added in the remarks of Gargee Setaram, who lives a short distance away, that Nankisore was an antisocial person, and most of her relatives reside overseas.

She further stated that family members had not heard anything from the woman for a while. As a result of that, Setaram contacted the police and informed them about the matter.

At about 11:00 hours on Wednesday, November 29, they visited the woman’s house together, during which they found her in her bedroom, lying on a bed- in an advanced state of decomposition.

A neighbour disclosed, “Actually, like she is dead from nature cause; no eating and those things. You could see that she was dead long because the body dried up as it baked.”

Additionally, officials are investigating the matter and trying to collect as much evidence as possible regarding the case.

The investigation department conducted an investigation on the woman’s body, and an autopsy is expected to be received soon.

Many people expressed their concern on social media, where one has commented, “It pays to live good/ socialize with your neighbours. Maybe if she had been a social person, neighbours would’ve missed her a long time. And for so long, her family didn’t check up on her.”

Another has commented, “Why would people be living like that these days? Being Antisocial only makes situations worse because you won’t talk to anybody to get any help.”

This is a matter of concern that living next to someone and seeing the neighbour a day or two before as they are supposed to call them and check on them if the person is ok or not.

However, being an introvert and antisocial are two different things. A person needs to be treated well if he/she is antisocial.

Notably, people are expected to be aware and conscious towards the people around them.
