16 days campaign Gender-based Violence hosted in St Kitts and Nevis
The Department of Gender Affairs is thrilled to announce its participation in its 16-day activism against Gender-Based Violence. This campaign will take place from Saturday, 25th November and will continue till Sunday, 10th December.

Basseterre, St. Kitts: The Department of Gender Affairs is thrilled to announce its participation in its 16-day activism against Gender-Based Violence. This campaign will take place from Saturday, 25th November and will continue till Sunday, 10th December.
During this campaign, the Department of Gender Affairs is committed to raising awareness and promoting such actions that will play a huge role in eradicating gender-based violence in all its forms.
The Department of Gender Affairs is asking all the citizens to unite together for this campaign and invest in it to prevent violence against women and girls.
The activities of 16 days campaign against Gender-based violence include:
On 20th November, a TikTok challenge competition was conducted in the High Schools of St Kitts and Nevis.
On Sunday, 26th November 2023, a church service will be conducted at the Zion Moravian Church, Victoria Road, at 9:30 am.
On Monday, 27th November 2023, a campaign of 16 days will launch and a domestic violence mural will be revealed. This mural will be painted at Pond Road, Newton, at 10 am.
This mural will depict the repercussions of physical abuse on a female. It was also stated by the Senior Gender Officer, Shinnel Charles, that having a visual representation of the effects of domestic violence will be very impactful for the nation.
Charles also added that St Kitts and Nevis will have more murals around the nation so that one can never forget the domestic abuse or violence against women, men or children.
Minister Isalean Phillip also stated that St Kitts does not have any murals that depict domestic violence, so it is important for the Federation to have them.
On Tuesday, 28th November 2023, an activity will be conducted with the name Safe Space for Men.
On Wednesday, 29th November 2023, a podcast will be conducted by the Gender Affairs Department of St Kitts and Nevis.
On Saturday, 2nd December 2023, a Self-Défense training will be conducted for the women of St Kitts and Nevis and teen girls of above 14 ages at McKnight Community Centre. This training session will be conducted between 9 am to 12 pm.
On Friday, 8 December 2023, the citizens will enjoy Wear Orange Day in order to raise and promote awareness against violence.
Thus, on the final day of the campaign, Sunday, 10th December 2023, Gender Affairs and faith-based Organizations will conduct an awareness march and rally from Greenland to Carnival Village at 1 pm.
It’s a request by the Department of Gender Affairs of St Kitts and Nevis to all the citizens of the nation to build a society that stands against violence and that can address the root causes of the gender-based violence.
