10 people killed in Nigerian Village by Bandit attack

Nigeria: A total number of 10 people, including three soldiers, have been brutally killed by bandit attack in a village in northwest Nigeria on Wednesday.

Armed men set fire to the state and citizens on Jampra motorcycles in the fiercely wrecked Kabasa village on Tuesday, and villagers told reporters. “The bandits attacked and killed those seven villagers in the village,” said Saminu Osman, a citizen of Kabasa.

Osman stated three soldiers were killed and attacked “fighting the bandits” after landing from the nearby town of Magami to face the attackers.

Another resident, Boob Badmasi, confirmed the toll. Heavy-armed criminal gangs in the north-west and central Nigeria have taken measures in recent years, such as attacks, kidnapping for ransom, rape, and firing.

Zamfara State Information Commissioner Ibrahim Dosra affirmed the attack on the village but did not provide any accident details.

Despite the administration offering an amnesty to renounce violence and surrender its weapons, the state has been hit hardest by the bandits.

Last month, the bandits kidnapped 279 schoolgirls from their hostel in Zangbe village, freeing them after days of conversation. And 39 students in nearby Kaduna State remained in bondage after last week’s kidnapping.

Mass kidnapping in Nigeria is increasing day by day. Recent reports revealed armed bandits had murdered 15 people in Amarawa, a small village at the border of Nigeria and Niger — during the early hours of March 1.

The assassin perpetrators are often associations of bandits taking advantage of inadequate projects and firearms’ easy availability. The banditry violence began as a farmer-herder dispute in 2011 and intensified between 2017–2018 to comprises cattle rustling, kidnapping for ransom, sexual violence, and killings.

About 21 million individuals living in Nigeria’s Kaduna, Niger, Sokoto, Kebbi, and Katsina lands are hugely influenced.

Still, sometimes they have been observed that carry out several more attacks and demand lower ransom than expected per victim ransom amounts of around $1,000.

On the other hand, Bandits often criticize that the central and state organizations abandoned them in these last 20 years, describing limitations on grazing claims. These kidnappers recognize victims as a source of income that is unsuitable.
