Jamaican woman killed at her residence in Florida

A 45-year-old Jamaican born woman was discovered dead at her residence in Port St Lucie, Florida. The incident was reported on Tuesday; the victim has been identified as Karesha Brissett.  

The body was found by the victims’ co-worker or friend who went to Brissett’s residence after she did not turn up at her workplace. The friend, on reaching Brissett’s residence, saw that the back sliding glass door was broken, after which she raised the alarm and gathered people.  

As per the police reports, 13 used shell casings in the back yard of Brissett’s house. According to the police officials, the 45-year-old was shot several times and killed through the sliding glass door. The theory of officers notes that the attackers did not enter the house. 

Sergeant John Dellacroce of the – Port St Lucie police informed the local media news that, as per the evidence gathered so far, shows that the woman was murdered, while calling it a ‘targeted crime and not a random act of violence. 

Apart from this, no additional information has yet been provided by the police authorities. 

Meanwhile, the relatives of the deceased informed that she mitigated to Florida from the Caribbean island several years ago. 

Brissett’s cousin – Karene Samuels, while talking to the media, made an appeal to get justice for her sister, adding that her sister was residing in Florida for around ten years and just recently moved to Port St Lucie.

Cousin of the 45-year-old, while expressing her emotions and remembering her sisters’ memories, cited, “We both grew up in Jamaica, migrated to the United States, so I knew her my whole life. One would never have expected – Brissett to be killed in this manner, as she was a very religious person and very into her church“.  

 Port St Lucie police has appealed to the general public to come forward and provide them information regarding the incident, if they have any, and assured justice for the deceased.
