As per the reports of the police, the constable was assigned to the Highway Safety and Patrol Division of the constabulary, and he was performing his duties when he was mowed down by the motorist.

According to the information, the cop signalled a motorist to stop. However, the motorist ignored his signal and hit him. Subsequently, he was taken to the hospital, where he was admitted for treatment. The doctors on duty provided him with the best medical facilities.

The Police officials of Jamaica have confirmed that the motorist is in custody and the authorities will be investigating the matter thoroughly.

Rash driving is becoming extremely dangerous for everyone involved as they deliberately race their vehicles, which then pose a danger both to themselves and to the other person who is walking or moving towards the road.

Along with that, people who drive vehicles under the influence of alcohol are also likely to cause damage to innocent by standers and public property. Therefore, it is necessary for the government of Jamaica to apply stringent measures in order to curb such accidents.

The residents of the community took to their social media accounts to express their views on the matter and extended condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

One person with a Facebook account, Marcia Graham, commented, “Sincere Condolences to the constable’s family and his work family. I would love for officers to desist from going out on the road for too many insane people wearing clean clothes. I want the whole law book to throw out to him people’s life is valuable.”

That is just so unfortunate. RIP officer,” wrote Josephine Johnson.

Another person with a Facebook handle, Rosedell Barnes, commented the following: “Condolences to his family and friends, as well as to the JCF. It is very sad.
