St Catherine, Jamaica: The altercation between teenagers resulted in the death of 16-year-old and apprehension of 15-year-old boy. The incident is reported to have taken place at Spanish town on Wednesday on 29th May 2024.
The victim has been identified as Zavear Edwards of Eddiston Boulevard, Spanish Town. Meanwhile, the name and identity of the accused has not been revealed yet by the authorities, but is a local resident of Spanish Town, St Catherine.
As per the details shared by the authorities both the teenagers got involved in a verbal dispute which resulted in the 15-year-old boy use a sharp object to stab Edwards several times.
Soon after the incident, the authorities were called and they immediately responded to the matter by visiting the crime spot. As soon as they reached there, the officers examined an injured body of the victim and transported it to the hospital.
The doctors on duty examined the victim thoroughly and started their medical treatment. However, the victim was so severely injured that he wasn’t able to survive and died during the ongoing treatment.
The accused 15-year-old boy was later charged on Saturday, 1st June 2024 and the authorities have promised to punish the culprit for the offence he committed. As per the reports, the date for the accused to appear in the court is yet to be finalised.
This incident garnered huge attention of the residents and they took to their social media accounts and expressed their views and opinions on the act of crime. One person commented “Children killing children, God, we need you, this is really sad, how a young child can do this. May god protect this world.”
Another person commented the following “Such a terrible act, why today’s kids are becoming such ruthless, who gave them the right to take away someone’s life. I am really worried for the future of the nation.”
The residents of the community have raised their concern about preventing youth from getting indulged in such criminal activities. For the same, they have requested authorities to take stringent measures, ensuring safe and security of the nation.
