St. Kitts and Nevis: The Day 3 of exclusive five days Investment Gateway Summit 2024 had the insightful closure with the powered emphasis on Sustainable Development and Environmental Responsibilities.
The day filled with highly productive sessions in the form of various panel discussions and workshops led to the engagements entitled with sustainable investment and initiatives for green energy.
The day embarked with the enlightening key address by Dr. Denzil Douglas under ‘Sustainable Investment and Pathway to Economic Development’ where he casted light on the comprehensive overview of the economic development of.
While delivering the speech, he laid an emphasis on the significance of sustainable development and citizenship. As well, highlighted the dedication of the team who dedicatedly remained under force with the sustainable explorations on Nevis Back in 2010.
The resilient and progressive St. Kitts and Nevis is the outcome of strategic investments as stated by the Minister. He added that despite being cluttered by the challenges like natural disasters and water scarcity, the country is following rapid growth and announced the near realization of the dream of green energy in the country.
Following this, SKIPA (St. Kitts Investment Promotion Agency) stressed on the discovery of lucrative investment opportunities in the nation which will be fostered by the vibrant investment climate.
Under this, Stanley Jacobs of St. Kitts Investment Promotion Agency highlighted the Sustainable Ambitions on having the focus on the exploration of thrilling investment prospects. This involved various of the sectors like- Real Estates, Technology and Innovation, the agriculture and healthcare sectors.
The day filled with discerning aspects further was carried where Dr. Joyelle Clarke and the Minister Konris Maynard represented the visionary roadmap towards the sustainable island state. Such has been delivered to the attendees through a presentation.
During this, the minister of Sustainable Development- Dr. Joyelle Clarke stated, “Invest in Green Energy, Invest in Clean Energy.” Such a statement clearly emphasized on the importance of environment friendly investment practices.
This just is not the limit to the productive engagements as the plans for the Royal Basseterre Valley Aquifer were also revealed with the exclusive presentation by Austin- Jay Farier, the director at the Department of Physical Planning. He denoted the project as a cornerstone of the nation’s sustainable development.
Following the interactions, the Cultural Presentation with the Dance Extravaganza enriched the minds and souls of the attendees from various ethnicities. The performance revolved around the theme- “Mother Earth is Dying.” The heritage and the cultural blend presented serves as the nation’s own unique aspects.
The mesmerizing showcase of expressive moves with the creative quality of storytelling spoke of the urgent need for environmental awareness and its preservation.
Further, the Panel Discussions availed the opportunity to the attendees to have an experience to the key insights of the panelists. Under Investing in Technologies for Enhancing Food Production and Security, the panelists Miguel Flemming- Permanent Secretary in the St. Kitts Agriculture Ministry and Dr. Ricardo Neil of St. Kitts and Nevis Robotics Association casted light on food production and its safety.
Not only this, the other panel discussion had its centered focus on Environment, Energy and Water. The panelists who were from Water Service Department, SKELEC, Wayne E. Archibald- a Professor provided the insights to the strategies to foster sustainable development.
As part of Day 3 activities only, another panel discussion was held which had the focus on strategies for effective due diligence and risk management with the advent of AI (Artificial Intelligence.
Since the day was well occupied, the productive session had its curtain down by taking the attendees on the journey of “Finding Kittitian Gems.” This featured the guided tour of Caribelle Batik and Old Road Rum, revealing the offered insights to Kittitian culture, craftsmanship and heritage. Further, leading to the Gala Dinner.
