Guyana: Prez Ali addresses Region Three during luncheon at Leonora Resident

Guyana: President of the Republic of Guyana, Irfaan Ali brought Christmas cheer to hundreds of senior citizens from across Region Three during a luncheon hosted at his Leonora residence on December 21, 2022.

He emphasised that the relationship shared with citizens is not seasonal but rather is based on working hard every day and doing his best to make their lives better.

The President, a son of Leonora, has been honouring senior citizens during the holidays since 2009.

The Minister of Education, Priya Manickchand, along with Regional officials, were also at the event.

Earlier, President of Guyana and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali, announced that the government would offer benefit from a one-month bonus to the members of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF).

He made this announcement at the GDF’s Annual Christmas Luncheon earlier today at Base Camp Ayanganna. “In keeping with our commitment to the population of Guyana in uniform… I wish to announce your one-month bonus for this year,” President Ali stated.

He assured those gathered as well as every citizen, that every day would get better and prosperity would come.

“I assure you that as your Commander in Chief, as President, and as a Government, going forward, every single day, the lives of Guyanese and the lives of all of you here, every single day, will get better and prosperity will come more and more, for every single family in this country,” he was quoted saying.

President Ali was joined by Chief of Staff Brigadier Godfrey Bess; Commissioner of Police (ag) Clifton Hicken; National Security Advisor Captain Gerry Gouveia, along with members of the GDF and the Guyana Police Force.
