Guyana Labour Minister and Osh Team participate in fire safety fair

Guyana: The Guyana Fire Service is hosting its annual National Fire Prevention Exercise under the theme,” Working together as one Guyana to prevent fires,” which will run through October 2-26, 2022.

The Guyana Fire Service, Fire Prevention Department is presently hosting an awareness activity at the National Park, with full participation by officials of the Ministry of Labour, Occupational Safety and Health Department.

Joseph Hamilton, Minister of Labour also visited the exercise and engaged several students of various schools from the outskirts and central Georgetown.

The students were also engaged by Guyana Fire Service, Chief Fire Officer, Wickham Gregory and Deputy Fire Chief, Dwayne Scotland, along with Minister of Home Affairs, Robeson Benn.

Fire prevention week is annually observed globally in the month of October and this year’s theme is Fire won’t wait, plan your escape”.

Locally, the Fire Prevention Department pushes fire safety awareness for more than a week, due to the high rate of fire incidents and the dire need to raise awareness campaigns for the reduction of fire in our society.
