Grenada: In celebration of the start of the new school year, Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell paid a visit to two schools in his constituency of St David – Westerhall Secondary School and St David’s Catholic Secondary School.
Prime Minister shared motivational messages with teachers and students as they embark on the new term, encouraging all to “hold on to their dreams.”
Prime Minister took social media and said, “It was my honour to visit with students and teachers at the Westerhall Secondary School and the St. David’s Catholic Secondary School this morning.
I extend best wishes to all our students and teachers across Petite Martinique, Carriacou and Grenada for a wonderful begining of the new year at school!”
Primary schools in St David also welcomed visits from Senator Adrian Thomas. Senator Thomas met with students and teachers at the Corinth Government School, St David’s RC School, and St Joseph’s RC School.
During the visits, specially identified students were presented with care packages that contained school supplies.
The ministry of Education of Grenada also informed the students and staff of the St. Andrew’s Anglican Primary School returned to new facilities at the school’s new location at Progress Park today, the first day of the Michaelmas term.
Returning and new students will no longer be at the temporary structure in Grenville, which sat adjacent to the original school structure that was damaged by Hurricane Ivan and then later destroyed by fire.
Staff and students have used the temporary school facility in Grenville for many years while waiting for the school to be rebuilt.
The rebuilding process is scheduled to begin shortly, necessitating the relocation of the temporary facility.
Principal, teachers and students are content with the new facilities provided, as they remain in anticipation about the new official school facility, which will be constructed at the original school site in Grenville.
Meanwhile, the principal and teachers say students are settling in well and even looking forward to using the nearby Progress Park playing field and enjoying their more spacious environment.
