Four athletes to represent Saint Lucia in Pan American Games
Four athletes from Saint Lucia are set to participate in the forthcoming, Pan American Games commencing from 20th October to 5th November 2023.

Four athletes from Saint Lucia are set to participate in the forthcoming, Pan American Games commencing in Santiago, Chile from 20th October to 5th November, 2023.
Delan Edwin and Naomi London will be representing Saint Lucia in 200 meters Men’s and Women’s respectively. The President of the Saint Lucia Boxing Association, David Christopher will serve as Chef de Mission assisted by the Saint Lucia Athletic Association Assistant Secretary, Lisa Joseph.
Luc Chevrier is going to take part in the sailing competition and Jayhan Odlum Smith is to compete in 100-meter Butterfly and 100-meter Freestyle swimming. This is the eighth time that the athletes of St Lucia will be representing their nation at the Pan American Games.
The Pan American Games which are commonly known as Santiago 2023 are governed by the Panam Sports Organization. It is a continental multi-sport event.
These games include thousands of participants from various countries namely North America, South America, Central America and the Caribbean.
Pan American Games will be held in Chile for the first time and for the eighth time in South America. Some of the world’s top athletes and Olympic champions: Rebeca Andrade, Mijain Lopez and Maggie MacNeil will also be representing their nations at the 19th Pan American Games in Santiago, the Capital of Chile.
The Pan American games are scheduled in 39 venues across Santiago, the Metropolitan region and other three regions of Chile.
In 1951, the first Pan American games was conducted in Buenos Aires. These games are held every four years and are quite similar to the format used by the Olympics. In the first edition, 18 sports were played and 21 countries in total participated.
The 18th edition of the Pan American games was held in Lima in 2019. in which the United States of America won the maximum number of medals and dominated the sports event with 122 gold and 87 silver and 84 bronze medals.
It is actually a very proud moment for St Lucia as its athletes have qualified for such an important and crucial event.
