Fatal accident in Jamaica resulted in death of father and injuries to son
The accident occurred due to a collision between a motorcycle and a BMW motorcar.

Westmoreland, Jamaica: A father died and his son is hospitalised in a serious condition following the fatal accident that took place in Westmoreland, Jamaica on Wednesday night. The accident occurred due to a collision between a motorcycle and a BMW motorcar.
The deceased has been identified as 37-year-old Odane Somers, a resident of Grass Piece district, Culloden, Whitehouse in the parish.
As per the details shared by the authorities, Somers was driving his Brown Warhawk motorcycle in the direction of Savanna-la-Ma when the person sitting in the BMW 2015 headed in the direction of Bluefields.
Subsequently, both vehicles collided near the surroundings of “Rockside” when they reached a section about 80 metres of the Cave main road to the west of the junction of Cave Mountain Road.
As a consequence of the collision, the father died and the son fell into bushes off the left of the roadway due to which he incurred multiple injuries. Therefore, the members of the Jamaica Defence Force took him to the Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital.
The doctors of the hospital conducted a thorough investigation of the son and admitted him. He is still hospitalized and in a critical condition.
Whereas the only occupant of the BMW did not sustain any injury, as per the reports shared by the investigating officers.
This fatal accident shook everyone and the residents of the community took to their social media accounts to express their views on the incident. They raised their concern over the increase in the number of accidents and asked the authorities to guide the citizens by conducting workshops on safe driving.
One person with a Facebook account Sharon Foster-Alexander commented “Well some roads are maybe just too nice so they think they must speed. Sorry, this happened. A lot of the crashes seem to happen on nice roads that people drive fast on.”
Another person with a Facebook handle Stacey Ann Francis commented the following “People need to be careful on the roads. The madness I see sometimes is appalling. Too much now. One life lost is too many.”
The residents also requested all the drivers to drive slowly in order to avoid any complications or accidents.
