St John’s, Antigua and Barbuda: The Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party expressed pleasure while announcing the new Senator – Dwayne Kenny Mustafa George. The leader of ABLP and Prime Minister of the nation, Gaston Browne, welcomed Mustafa to the party as well as congratulated him.
The political party expressed pleasure and called him as the ‘caretaker’ for St Mary’s South constituency of Antigua and Barbuda.
The Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party took the official social media handle and stated, “Newly appointed Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party caretaker for St Mary’s South, Dwayne Kenny Mustafa George has been sworn in as the newest Government senator.”
According to the official information, he took the oath of office at Government House on the morning of August 3, 2023. The vacancy was created in the senate with the appointment of Caleb Gardiner as a diplomat in Washington DC.
According to the shared update, Prime Minister and ABLP leader Gaston Browne said George will serve in Parliament’s Upper House ahead of the pending by-election in St Mary’s South. Prime Minister Browne expressed that he is confident George will return the seat to the ABLP column as he has already hit the ground running in the constituency.
In addition to this, it mentioned that Prime Minister Browne has also pushed back against those critical of George’s decision to switch political allegiance to the ABLP, citing numerous similar instances in the past across both major parties.
The Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party has anticipated that he will fulfil all the needs and demands of the citizens and residents of the constituency. The Leader of ABLP Browne also assured that proper support and assistance will be provided to George and it has been anticipated that he will serve the people of his constituency as his family.
