CARICOM urges other parties to get involved to support Ukraine
The Caribbean Community has condemned the attack on Ukraine by the Russian Federation. CARICOM has further called for the immediate and complete withdrawal of military presence.

CARICOM: The Caribbean Community has condemned the attack on Ukraine by the Russian Federation. CARICOM has further called for the immediate and complete withdrawal of military presence.
The Caribbean Community further stated the action by The Russian Federation of the regions represents the violation of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.
The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) stated that “Our community strongly condemns the military attacks and invasion of Ukraine by The Russian Federation and calls for the immediate and complete withdrawal of the military presence and cessation of any further actions that may intensify the current perilous situation in that country.”
It further added, “The recognition by The Russian Federation of the regions of Donetsk and Luhansk represents a violation of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.”
While expressing grief, the Community said that this invasion of Ukraine is against the basic principles of respect and the internal affairs of another sovereign state have been affected.
“Hostilities against Ukraine go counter to principles of respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, non-interference in the internal affairs of another sovereign state and the prohibition on the threat or use of force, and the peaceful resolution of disputes, which are the bedrock of this Community,” CARICOM said in the issued statement.
The Caribbean Community further urged for global peace and security asked to maintain the international system and international law.
The statement read, “The Community maintains that principles of universal respect & adherence to these norms and principles of international law are fundamental for the maintenance of the international system, global peace as well as protection of citizens.”
CARICOM further urged other parties to get involved “to urgently embark on intensified diplomatic dialogue to immediately de-escalate hostilities and work towards a sustainable peace”.
