CARICOM to mark Girls in ICT Day 2023 on Apr 27

Caribbean: The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) will join hands with the world to organise an event to appreciate the participation of girls in the sector of Information and Communications Technology. As per the latest update, “Girls in ICT Day” 2023 will be celebrated internationally on Thursday, April 27 2023, under the ITU theme of “Digital Skills for Life”.

According to the official update, this year, the CARICOM Girls in ICT Partnership is collaborating with Restore a Sense of I Can (RSC) International (based in Trinidad and Tobago) for the delivery of a regional Girls in ICT Day activity on Thursday, April 27, 2023, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm (Eastern Caribbean Time) under the theme “Girls in ICT and the Boys who support them”.

The update further mentioned that the objective is to allow participants to develop a deeper understanding of the use of ICT in the 21st Century and help them to develop digital literacy skills while inviting them to envision their future as ICT creators.

An invitation is extended to all schools, institutions, teachers, faculty members, instructors and students enrolled at the Early Childhood, Primary, Secondary, Technical Vocational Education and Training, and Tertiary levels and IT and ICT teachers, students and practitioners in the public sector.

Interested candidates are asked to come and participate in the event to make it successful and entertaining. It was also announced that the participants will be honoured with certificates. “Participants are encouraged to register in advance. Participants will receive a participation e-Certificate provided they attend at least two sessions and score a minimum of 20 marks in asynchronous activities,” the update read.
