Georgetown, Guyana: An 18-year-old labourer was arrested by police as they found a 12-gauge shotgun in a salt bag on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at Essequibo Coast.
It is to be noted that officers from Regional Division No. 2 searched on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at the home of an 18-year-old boy in Onderneeming/Sand Pit.
As per the reports, police officials received information that the young man was contacted for Arms and Ammunition. Officers recovered two cell phones, including a Samsung phone and an iPhone. Neither of the items belonged to him.
Further, the labourer told the investigators that the phone was given to the accused by a friend. He elaborated that his friend also gave him a shotgun to keep as well.
Moreover, he went with the ranks to an area at his home where he stored or kept his ‘salt bag.’ The authorities opened the bag in the presence of the young boy, and they found a 12-gauge shotgun with the serial number filed off.
Currently, an 18-year-old was taken into custody, and the investigation of the matter is ongoing.
Additionally, the news has been shared by various social media pages on Facebook, and many people took to their official FB handle to express their opinions regarding the case.
While reacting to the post, one such person named Desiree Holder wrote, “God help these young people the bible say remember the creator in the days of thy youth.”
Another user by the name of Jose Ventura commented, “Maduro forgot his gun and put it in the salt bag to purify it.”
