Bridgetown, Barbados: As the new variants of the COVID-19 virus are arriving in the Caribbean region, several CARICOM states are witnessing the fourth wave of the contagious virus. In Barbados, a total of 567 fresh cases of the COVID19 has been recorded in the past 24 hours on January 10, 2022, while no death has been recorded.
The data has been shared by the Ministry of Health in the COVID-19 update report. Out of the new cases, around 239 patients are male, and 328 are female.
The island at present holds a total of 32,795 confirmed cases of the COVID virus, since the start of the pandemic, out of which 15,370 cases have been recorded among the men population, and 17,425 are among the female population, as per the data shared in the health ministrys’ report.
Till now, a total of 266 COVID patients lost their lives to the viral disease. The data in the report further notes at present, 98 individuals are in the isolation facilities, whereas in total, 3,520 people have isolated themselves at their respective homes.
Among the fresh COVID-19 cases, 100 are the ones who are under the age group of 18 years, while 467 are of 18 years old and above.
In terms of the vaccination, till January 10, 2022, at least 156 871 individuals are partially vaccinated with receiving their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. On the other hand, so far, a total of 144,995 individuals have received their required number of the COVID-19 vaccine doses and are now fully immunised against the deadliest virus.
This means that around 53.5% of the total targeted population of the island is now fully vaccinated, whereas around 68.7% of the population has received their first dose of the WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccines.
