Antigua and Barbuda: Cruise tourism takes upsurge with increase in Cruise arrivals

Antigua and Barbuda: The country, Antigua and Barbuda experiences an upsurge in Cruise Arrivals. Such an increase elevates Cruise Tourism and brings economic growth which directs towards overall development.

Considerably, the country has received 83,389 passengers in this month (February). The country has 48 calls which serves as a great cruise tourism destination. Even this is not the limit, the escalation in cruise tourism is also projected from the expectations of receiving 78 calls which will bring over 141000 passengers.

The Antigua Cruise Port(ACP) team welcomed Carnival Venezia into the country last Thursday. This brought up “Fun Italian Style” cruising into St John’s for the first time. More than four thousand passengers sailed into the port aboard the vessel along with 1401 crew members.

St John’s was the first port of call on the current 12 day round trip Southern Caribbean itinerary for the ship. Even, the recently rebranded Vista-class cruise liner is expected to call on St John’s again in November.

Many cruise ships including Virgin Valiant Lady, Royal Caribbean Explorer of the Seas and Celebrity Beyond also docked at the Antigua Cruise Port alongside Carnival Venezia. This brought over 13,350 passengers which is a significant count.

Such an arrival turned the country into a major entertainment offering spot. One of the government’s social media handles even shared this on their social media and people shared their experiences of visiting the country.

“I was on Valiant Lady of the day. My husband and I had a wonderful time on the Island. We are looking forward to our next visit,” added one.

“We absolutely loved your island, it was so incredibly beautiful. Thank you for having Venezia. We can’t wait to come back,” mentioned one of the passengers named Colleen Copland.
