Antigua and Barbuda athletes impress at Commonwealth Youth Games 2023 semifinals

St John’s, Antigua and Barbuda: Antigua and Barbuda Athletics Association (ABAA) lauded the athletes of the nations for their outstanding performance in the Commonwealth Youth Games 2023. Recently, it took to social media to share the latest achievements of the athletes of Antigua and Barbuda.
The update informed that the semifinals stage of the game had been done and dusted, and LaNica Locker is Antigua and Barbuda’s only finals qualifier in the 200 meters.
According to the update, she finished 2nd in her Semifinals in a time of 23.58 seconds to book her spot in the finals with the second fastest time.
“We wish her all the best as she looks poised to pick up the nation’s first medal at the games,” it noted.
Furthermore, it informed that the male competitors of Antigua and Barbuda in Kasiya Daley and Cleon Joseph finished 5th and 7th in their respective semifinals in times of 21.87 and 22.26 seconds which was not fast enough to advance to the finals.
Finals will be run on August 10, 2023, at 4:30 pm, as per the update.
As per the heats earlier, it was announced that 3 out of our four competitors were advanced to the semifinals.
Competing in heat, 1 LaNica Locker finished 2nd in a time of 24.41 seconds, as per the reports.
“Our other female competitor Geolyna Dowdye could not face the starters after developing a hip and quad strain. We wish her a speedy recovery,” it informed the general public.
According to the sources, on the male side, Kasiya Daley competing in heat 4, finished 2nd in 22.15 seconds, and Cleon Joseph, competing in heat 5, finished in 5th in a time of 22.24 seconds to advance to the semifinals as a none automatic qualifier.
