Antigua and Barbuda: Prime Minister Gaston Browne signed the first-ever Memorandum of Understanding with Sadhguru Jagadish Vaudev – founder of Conscious Planet. This signing has been considered a historic moment for Antigua and Barbuda and the Save Soil Movement.

“A historic moment for Antigua and Barbuda and the Save Soil international campaign: The first MoU signed by Prime Minister the Hon. Gaston Browne and world-renowned Yogi Mr Sadhguru Jagadish Vaudev, Founder of Conscious Planet,” the government of Antigua and Barbuda stated.

This memorandum would focus on the need for global policies to secure soil health for the future generation. The signing marked the commencement of a worldwide ecological campaign in the region.

“Today’s signing officially launches a global ecological campaign aimed at engaging large sections of society to take decisive action on climate change and soil degradation,” as per the government.

This historic signing ceremony was virtually attended by the prominent leaders of Caribbean countries, including the Prime Ministers. Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis – Dr Timothy Harris, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica – Roosevelt Skerrit and Prime Minister of St Lucia – Philip J. Pierre also virtually attended the historic signing ceremony.

The event was also attended by International Soca Star Machel Montano, Molwyn Joseph, Minister of Health, Wellness and the Environment, Samantha Marshall, Minister of Agriculture Fisheries and Barbuda Affairs and the Honorary Consul of India, Mr Vijay Tewani.

According to the government, OECS Heads of Government will also engage the Save the Soil Campaign.

The aim behind the movement is to educate the public about the significance of soil in our daily lives and the planet’s sustainable future. The campaign will work on effective Policy Redirection in the Democratic World.

According to the government, “The Government of Antigua and Barbuda is interested in the well-being of the citizens of Antigua and Barbuda to ensure future food and ecological security of the nation. And for the same, the Government wishes to take all possible measures to stop soil degradation and enhance soil quality.”
