St Lucia: On the occasion of the 42nd Independence Anniversary, Prime Minister Allen Chastanet on Monday repeated his conviction that he aims to build a disaster-resilient economy.
St Lucia is celebrating its 42nd Independence Anniversary, which made citizens and Prime Minister Allen Chastanet more jubilant.
PM Chastanet stated, “It was clear for all to see that Saint Lucia was again back on track with its development, but COVID-19 had impacted this development.”
Furthermore, he added that “COVID-19 would not define St Lucia. It’s not how far we have come; it’s about how far we’ll have to go. As an independent nation, we have a responsibility.”
Moreover, the PM stated, “there is no denying that there will be setbacks; we have had immense revenue losses and had to reallocate a lot of our resources to fight the pandemic. But you would have heard me repeatedly say over the past year that coronavirus will not define us. Nor will we allow it to deter us.”
The theme for this 42nd Independence Anniversary celebration is “A Resilient Nation, and We can, We will.”
The fight against coronavirus entered a new phase with the initiation of the vaccination program. PM Chastanet appreciated the serving of all frontline workers, the nurses, doctors, firemen, and police that have already received the vaccine.
Govt of St Lucia is finding a way to reach people to stimulate the economy again. It has been a mammoth task of keeping people distant from local gatherings.
He urged citizens for immense cooperation to defeat this lethal coronavirus. We will continue to do our work to maintain what we have built it now by renovating roads, world class education system, amazing supporting facilities, village tourism, a better water supply, and other activities to lift the standards of St Lucia.
Prime Minister Allen Chastanet aims to build a disaster-resilient economy where the nation can gain, and everybody has a fair game to success. He stated that our country is growing and responding.
This enthusiastic independence message has incremented the level of energy in St Lucians.
A St Lucian commented, “encouraging words Hon. P.M. Chastanet. I am looking forward to the continued progress, especially in health care, education, diversification, etc. Amidst the constant criticism, as you and your cabinet of ministers face the huge task of governing, especially in this most challenging time, I pray for protection for all of you, so you keep the nation safe and peaceful.”
The objective of Independence is to free the thoughts and will of every citizen in the nation.
