22 foreigners abducted by Gunmen rescued by Mexican authorities

Twenty-two foreigners were rescued by the Mexican authorities on Tuesday, most of them Cuban and Haitian, who were earlier kidnapped when gunmen assailed a hotel in Mexico's central San Luis Potosi state. Mexican authorities have rescued.

Out of all the kidnapped people, three were minors, and a pregnant woman was also among them. 

the attorney general of the state – Arturo Garza Herrera, cited that, “I am going to notify the ‘migration institute’, so that they can be included since we do not know the migratory status of these people.” 

Most of the abducted foreigners were of Cuban and Haitian identity, while earlier, it was expected that the majority was of Haitian and Venezuela. 

According to the sources, the gunmen ransacked the building and took off with the logbook of guests, making it hard to distinguish who was kidnapped at the Sol y Luna Hotel in Matehuala, which is about 195 kilometres (121 miles) north of the city of San Luis Potosi, the regional capital.

It is more frequent now that many migrants suffer extreme dangers on their route to the United States, with kidnappings, extortion, rape, and even murders reported. 

Some of the migrants are also recruited in the way on gunpoint to work for drug cartels battling over drug trafficking routes.

Recently, in the month of June, a human rights group proclaimed that near by 3,300 migrants have been stranded in – Mexico since the month of January, and all this is happening because of the United States’ border policy had been kidnapped raped, trafficked or assaulted.

While the abduction of people is a recurring security problem in Mexico, in the year 2019, a total of 1,323 cases of abduction were registered in the country, which was more than the cases registered in its previous year that is – 1,185.
