2 Grenada youth ambassadors elected as new executive members of OECS YAN
Shadel Stafford and Elon James, two of Grenada’s Youth Ambassadors, have been elected as the new executive members of the OECS Youth Advisory Network (YAN).

Shadel Stafford and Elon James, two of Grenada’s Youth Ambassadors, have been elected as the new executive members of the OECS Youth Advisory Network (YAN).
Shadel Stafford has been selected as the Secretary as she will be continuing her role for a second term and Elon James has been elected as the Deputy Chair.
It is to be noted that new faces have been introduced by the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States Commission for their upcoming tenure of the OECS Youth Advisory Network. These new members have been elected by seeing their potential and their commitment to driving the youth towards development.
The New Executive Team–
• Chairperson: Daniella Letal of Martinique
• Deputy Chair: Elon James of Grenada
• Secretary: Shadell Strafford of Grenada
Steven Phillip of St Kitts and Nevis, the outgoing chair, has handed over the responsibilities and authority to the newly elected trio, which is all set to enter into a new phase of youth engagement within the Eastern Caribbean.
The OECS, through the OECS Human and Social Development Unit, has shown their dedication to empowering the youth of the Eastern Caribbean by ensuring and motivating them to engage the youth in a national and regional dialogue for their better and secure future.
Notably, the Youth advisory network comprises of youth leaders from across the OECS member states to engage them in the process of decision-making across the region.
These members will act as the voice for the youth from their respective islands at the Commission level.
A glimpse into the lives of the new appointees:
Shadell Strafford– Strafford has been appointed as the OECS Youth Advisory Network Secretary for her second tenure. She has shown her contribution in fostering environmental sustainability.
Elon James: Elon is a lively advocate for youth and community development. His past experience as a youth parliamentarian and his work with the United Nations will play a huge role in nurturing human resources as well as in fostering regional growth.
Daniella Letal: Letal’s academic pursuits and experiences in maritime transport optimization will reflect her commitment to enhancing the region’s development.
