1.) Employment Opportunity: Supervisor, Sterile Service

Job Summary: The supervisor of sterile services is responsible for assisting with the management and coordination of the central sterile services department (CSSD). The officers are also required to coordinate the operations of the department and the processing of instruments and execute training programs in CSSD, which facilitates the development of a quality assurance system.

Key functions:

  • Supervises and trains subordinate staff members.
  • Manages theatre tray service in consultation with theatre managers and advisors and upgrades tray contents.
  • Ensure collection and distribution of sterile supplies.
  • Maintains an up to date Protocol manual.
  • Monitors as well as supervise the implementation of the quality of the management system.
  • Perform routine product inspections and testing.
  • Interface with the central sterile services’ customers and ensures that an efficient service is being provided.
  • Maintains a clean work environment in line with quality and OSH Standards.

Minimum Qualification and Experience:

  • A university degree in social science or any related discipline.
  • Certification in sterile services operations, theatre techniques or surgical instruments or any other relevant field.
  • Formal training in Supervisory management.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in a sterile processing environment.
  • In all instances, consideration will be given to any equivalent combination of qualifications, training and experience.

2.) Employment Opportunity: Pharmacist I

Job Summary: To provide quality pharmaceutical care services to all patients in a timely, efficient and effective manner and to establish, implement and update policies, procedures and operations to ensure a high quality of pharmaceutical care.

Key functions:

  • Instruct, train, supervise, evaluate and discipline pharmacy students, junior staff and pre-registered pharmacists in line with the institution’s human resource policies and procedures.
  • Evaluates and restructure pharmacy operations when necessary.
  • Verifies administration and processes all prescriptions.
  • Packages and labels dispensed pharmaceuticals to ensure product stability and proper usage.
  • Monitors all pharmaceutical inventories in compliance with stipulated regulations.
  • Provides health facilities and health centres with pharmaceuticals as required.

Minimum Qualification and Experience:

  • A university Degree/Diploma in pharmacy.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in a similar or related job function.
  • Registration with the Pharmacy Board of Trinidad & Tobago.

3) Employment Opportunity: Medical Laboratory Technician I

Job Summary: To perform routine and semi-complex testing of all types of specimens, including tissues, body fluids, and other body exudates for clinical diagnosis in all sections of the laboratory.

Key Functions:

• Identification, preparation and examination of samples and specimens.
• Collection and registration of samples and specimens.
• Preparation of media and reagents.
• Maintenance of sanitary conditions and laboratory equipment.
• Disposal and storage of potentially bio-hazardous materials.

Minimum Qualification and Experience:

• University Degree or an Associate Degree in medical laboratory technology.
• At least three years of experience in a similar or related job function.
• Registration with Council for professions related to Medicine.

4.) Employment Opportunity: Medical Laboratory Technician II

Job Summary: To perform complex and advanced technical testing on all types of specimens for clinical diagnosis in all sections of the laboratory.

Key Functions:

  • Supervises and trains subordinate staff in the performance and execution of their duties.
  • Prepares and conducts complex analyses and samples, which aid in diagnosing and managing patients.
  • Calibrates and operates complex and sensitive machines and equipment in the use of diagnostic evaluation.
  • Prepare blood and blood pressure for human use.

Minimum Qualification and Experience:

  • A university degree or an Associate degree in medical laboratory technology.
  • Formal training in Supervisory management.
  • At least six years of experience in a similar or related job function.
  • Competency in at least two core disciplines.
  • Registration with the medical laboratory technician’s board of Trinidad and Tobago.
