Trinidad and Tobago: PM Rowley to fly to Barbados on April 19, to meet US Representatives

Trinidad and Tobago: Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley is all set to fly to Barbados for high level meetings. He will depart from Trinidad and Tobago for Barbados on April 19, 2022 (Tuesday).
Reportedly, during his visit he will participate in various talks with the high-level US Representatives.
As per the schedule of the PM’s tour, Prime Minister Rowley will meet with US Senator Chris Dodd. US Senator has been named as the ‘Special Advisor for the Summit of the Americas by the President of Unites States – Joseph Biden.
Expectedly, Senator Dodd would also meet some other CARICOM Heads in Barbados.
On the next day of the tour – April 20, 2022 (Wednesday), Prime Minister Rowley would meet US Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA), Chairwoman of the US House Committee on Financial Services and Prime Minister of Barbados Mia Mottley. Chairwoman Waters would be accompanied by the members of the Financial Services Committee and other members of the US House of Representatives.
As per the reports, the discussion would also be attended by other CARICOM Heads of Government, the CARICOM and OECS Secretaries-General and the President of the Caribbean Development Bank.
On Wednesday, the leaders would host a roundtable discussion on De-Risking and Correspondent Banking. This discussion would cover various engagements between CARICOM Heads and Congresswoman Maxine Waters on the matters since 2019.
The last interaction between Prime Minister Rowley and Congresswoman Waters was during the visit to Washington DC in the year 2019. Both delegations held a meeting in March 2021, during Trinidad and Tobago’s Chairmanship of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).
As per the reports by the government, Prime Minister Rowley would be accompanied by Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, and Senator Dr Amery Browne.
PM Rowley has announced that the position (of Prime Minister) would be handled by Minister of Finance – Colm Imbert.
