Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister of the Federation – Dr Terrance Drew, met with two young businessmen who have been managing and operating the business of cool drink of jelly water in the Federation. He praised both youngsters through his official social media account on March 23, 2023.

“Stopped to get a cool drink of jelly water from these two young businessmen operating in the Camps community,” the social media post by the Prime Minister read.

St Kitts and Nevis government has been putting efforts for the upliftment and growth of small businesses across the nation, providing employment and opportunities to the young population. In addition to this, the Ministry of Small Business and Entrepreneurship’s Small Business Development Centre (SBDC) organised a training workshop for small business owners earlier this week. The workshop was hosted at CUNA Conference Centre. The objective of the workshop was to focus on grant readiness.

According to Delrine Taylor, Permanent Secretary of Small Business, the total number of participants who registered for the workshop reached 78.

“It is excellent because it demonstrates how eager people are to take on these tasks and learn new skills. Since our primary goal is “Your Growth, Your Success,” we anticipate having you participate in more of our courses and events. If you succeed, we will be overjoyed since it will signify that the Ministry is accomplishing its goals,” said Taylor.

During the event, while welcoming the participants, PS Taylor stated that the Ministry would continue to implement plans and strategies, enhancing the lives and businesses of the small business owners. She further assured that the Ministry would provide all the necessary technical support.

“We want to be more active in delivering workshops so that you can be more well-informed about what is happening and areas where we can develop small businesses because it is our mission to transform the micro, small and medium-sized sectors of within the nation through entrepreneurship and economic value creation,” said Minister Taylor, adding, “By doing that, the government wants to be able to help entrepreneurs to be more self-reliant and more resilient.”

According to the update, similar workshops will run for twelve (12) months, benefitting small and medium-sized businesses.
