St Kitts and Nevis: The National Carnival Committee announced judging criteria for the Grand Parade which is going to be held on January 1, 2024.

The criteria for Grand Parade includes various structures for various of the schools as for the Bands in front of Dr William Connor Primary School on Cayon Street states the total of 100 points. And, these 100 points are divided as 20 for presentation, 30 for interpretation of theme, 30 for design, 20 for Craftsmanship.

Specifically, Craftsmanship is to be judged at 1st judging point in front of Dr. William Connor Primary School on Cayon Street only. Also, the criteria mentioned, “Each troupe must designate two revelers from each situation, one male and one female to serve as models for judges to evaluate the craftsmanship aspect of the costume.”

Moreover, with the total of 80 points, the Mas Bands at Greenlands and Stage will be judged. The segregation of these 80 points is segregated as 20, 30 and 30 for presentation, interpretation of theme and design respectively.

Further, the same criteria has been introduced for the Queen of the Bands and King of the Bands with a total of 100 points with the same 20 for Craftsmanship, 20 for presentation, 30 for interpretation of theme and 30 for design.

Presentation

In this, the points are to be awarded for the extent to which a portrayal is brought to life at the judging points. This includes effective stage presentation by the competitor, Appropriate movement on stage and Communication with the audience.

Interpretation of Theme

The points under this will be given for the extent to which a portrayal represents the theme stated. Detailed examination to this includes use and inclusion of specific thematic elements, use of colour to depict theme and effective combination of visual elements.

Design

This will provide the calculations for the overall effect derived from the arrangement of components in the portrayal. And, this includes innovation of concept and construction, Inventiveness of structure, material usage and colour and effective arrangement of principal and subsidiary components.

Craftsmanship

This involves the level of skill reflected in the creation and production of the portrayal. Under which, the effective use of traditional and non-traditional materials, quality of finish, neatness, and workmanship is included in the detailed examination.
