Sri Lanka: MOS V Muraleedharan interacts with neighbour EAMs, discusses critical issues

India’s Union Minister of State for external affairs, V Muraleedharan, was on an official state visit to Srilanka to attend the 75th Independence Day celebration on Saturday, February 4, 2023. During his visit, the Union Minister of State for External Affairs took the opportunity to interact with several world leaders during his visit to Colombia.
He interacted with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, AK Abdul Momen, on important matters of mutual interest. Muraleedharan also shared an update on the interaction on his social media account. The Minister further met and interacted with the ministers of foreign affairs of Nepal and Sri Lanka.
The political leaders of the three nations, Sri Lanka, Nepal and India, engaged in discussions of mutual interest. At the same time, the Indian representative took the opportunity to assure his Sri Lankan Counterpart of India’s support during Sri Lanka’s economic recovery. He interacted with Ali Sabry and conveyed his greetings.
Reportedly, India was one of the primary supporters of Sri Lanka when the International Monetary Fund asked for a letter of guarantee. India extended their support through the Minister of External Affairs, Dr S Jaishankar. The Minister visited Sri Lanka and interacted with the government’s executive branch, assuring their support.
Meanwhile, during his visit to Colombo, the Union Minister of State for External Affairs, V Muraleedharan, visited the Gangaramaya Temple. The Indian High Commissioner of Sri Lanka shared the update on this visit on social media. During this visit, they informed the public that V Muraleedharan paid his respects to Ven Dr Kirinde Assaji Thero.
At the same time, Minister Muraleedharan stressed ensuring close civilizational ties between India and Sri Lanka. He believes the two nations can strengthen these ties through the shared values of Buddhism.
Meanwhile, MOS Murleedharan met with the president of Sri Lanka, Ranil Wickremesinghe. During this meeting, he conveyed PM Narendra Modi’s greetings on Sri Lanka’s 75th anniversary of Independence.
