St Kitts and Nevis: St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party stated that the Solid Waste Management Corporation (SWMC) staff are putting a lot of heat under Minister Eugene Hamilton for his mismanagement of the corporation funds.

According to St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party, members of the executive board and staff of the Solid Waste Management Corporation (SWMC) are putting a lot of heat under Minister Eugene Hamilton for his mismanagement of the corporation funds.

Furthermore, they added, enormous pressure is now on these persons’ lives, as due to Hamilton’s ‘politricks,’ the SWMC has now fallen to be almost 100% dependent on the government to pay their wages and fund their day-to-day activities.

Additionally, concerns shared by the staff in 2020 to the Minister have been ignored, and now in 2021, many of them have brought the issues public, chastising Hamilton, Timothy Harris, and the entire Harris administration for their callous, insensitive, and incompetent leadership that led to the demise of SWMC.

Leading up to the 2020 general elections, Solid Waste became a massive fixture in Hamilton and Harris’ campaign, through thousands of bins that were used to bribe and induce votes, ridiculous multi-thousand dollar advertisements to prop up the Minister, nonsensical garbage truck tours around the country, and paying out enormous amounts to their friends and families who they advised to purchase personal garbage trucks.

Fast-forward to today, the staff at the SWMC are unsure of their job status and are incredibly skeptical about just how long the government can commit to their salaries and other benefits.

Above all, what is even more difficult for the general community to swallow, is the fact that even persons who keep our streets clean and empty our garbage weekly have to endure the unfair repercussions of political corruption committed by Timothy Harris, Eugene Hamilton, and others of this administration.

St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party revealed, ‘Clearly, no one is safe from the madness of Timothy Harris and his administration.’

St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party is a social-democratic party governed by St. Kitts and Nevis from 1952 until 1980 and from 1995 to 2015.
