Soca Star Ricardo Drue passes away at 38

Antiguan Soca Music Star, Ricardo Drue passed away at the age of 38 on Tuesday, 12 December 2023. The reason for the death is still not known.

Notably, the singer was found unresponsive in his room and was taken to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, Antigua and Barbuda. The doctors announced him as dead when they reached the hospital.

Soca Monarch and Road March were the spheres in Antigua and Barbuda dominated by Drue. His talent and hard work have earned him a humongous fan following across the region.

As per the reports, the soca artist was scheduled to fly out of the island nation, but destiny had some other plans for him.

He was also known for his hits, such as Vagabond and Professional. Drue has also earned huge popularity for his fusion of soca, R&B, and reggae.

He was engaged to Patrice Roberts, a frontline singer of the A team band and a Soca sensation. Drue also had a daughter with Patrice.

The A team band also mourned the sudden demise of Drue and stated that he was a dear brother, friend and cherished member of the band.

Moreover, the death of the star was confirmed by his own fiancé. She took to her Instagram account and shared a video of herself planting a kiss on Drue’s cheeks.

It is to be noted that the family members and the entertainment fraternity were at the hospital.

Further, fans of Ricardo Drue extended condolences to the star through their social media accounts to remember the huge impact made by the singer. Therefore, the family members of Drue acknowledged the message of condolences and for showering their love towards the star.

Randall Mitchell, the tourism Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, also extended condolences to family members of Drue. He stated that, “the Drue’s sudden demise is a huge loss to the Soca fraternity and the Carnival community.”

He added that, “Drue’s work has brought happiness to millions and he is somebody who will never be forgotten and will always hold a special place in the hearts of his fans.”

Furthermore, Drue’s death has left all his fans and family members shattered. Drue’s family members have asked everyone to respect their privacy in such a difficult time.
