Skechers to donate $1 million for earthquake relief support to Haiti

Haiti: American lifestyle and performance footwear company Skechers is providing assistance to the Caribbean island Haiti to help the nation with relief efforts after a 7.2 magnitude earthquake badly hit the island.

Skechers will be providing earthquake relief efforts with a $1 million donation which is to be given to 3 charitable organizations – CORE, Hope For Haiti and World Central Kitchen.

Besides this, many international, national organizations, celebrities and countries are coming forward in providing assistance to the Caribbean island amid the tough times.

The local organizers in Boston are coming forward in their efforts to deliver relief to the island country. The Atlanta Rapper Future is also coming forward to assist Haitians affected by the earthquake that hit the country earlier this month by organizing a Haiti benefit concert.

According to a new Instagram post, the emcee would be hosting a Haitian benefit concert that is slated to go on September 3, 2021, at the Oasis Wynwood in Miami. The tickets for the Haiti benefit concert would go on sale on August 25 at noon ET.

This destruction by the earthquake has worsened the current situation of Haiti. The US-based aid agency named – Samaritan’s Purse opened a field hospital on Saturday, but at the same time, the authorities are struggling with security at distribution points. Gangs in Haiti have hijacked support trucks, and extreme crowds have scuffled over the bags of food.

A 30-tonne shipment of humanitarian assistance has also been sent by the government of Spain and several NGOs at the airport in Port-au-Prince.

The Prime Minister of Haiti – Dr Ariel Henry, has stated that a big challenge ahead of the administration is waiting which is reconstruction.

So far, more than 2,200 people have died on the island aftermath earthquake, while around 12,268 people have sustained injuries as per the data of the Civil Protection Agency.
