Shooting in Jamaica kills one and injures another driver

St Andrew, Jamaica: Two taxi drivers became the victims of the fatal shooting, which resulted in the death of one individual and severe injuries to another in St Andrew on Sunday. The cause behind this incident is still not known and authorities are probing the matter to ascertain a motive for the shooting. 

The deceased man has been identified as 38-year-old Shawn Granville, a resident of Bull Bay in the parish. The name of the other taxi driver and the injured man has not been revealed yet by the officers, but he is a resident of Kingston 8.

As per the reports shared by the authorities, the nearby residents of the community heard a loud explosion and they immediately informed the authorities of Jamaica about it. The investigating officers responded to the matter by visiting the crime spot where they found the injured body of the taxi driver. 

They initiated the investigation by seizing the place and on examining the body they found the wounds of the gunshot to the upper body of one taxi driver and wounds to the right hand and leg of the other taxi driver. 

Both the drivers were taken to the Kingston Public Hospital, where they were examined thoroughly by the medical officers and they pronounced Granville dead the other taxi driver is still in a stable condition and is undergoing medical treatment. 

The authorities have promised to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter at the Caribbean border to get the culprit punished for the offence he/she committed as well as to prevail justice for both the victims. 

Several residents of the community took to their social media accounts to express their views and opinions on the matter. One person with a Facebook handle Millicent Miller commented “This is so sad. Condolences to the family of the deceased.”

Another person commented the following “It is so disturbing, no one is safe in this country. I am just feeling so bad for the families of the taxi drivers. Officials need to take serious actions against this as the criminals are roaming so freely.”

The residents of the community have requested the administration to take serious measures to ensure the safety and security of the nation.
