Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago: Prime Minister of the twin-island nation of Trinidad and Tobago, Dr Keith Rowley, recently addressed the general public during the breakfast meeting at the Hilton Trinidad on May 31, 2023 (Wednesday).

Political Leader of the People’s National Movement and Prime Minister started his address and said, “Believe in our country, believe in your neighbour, believe in your business and accept that Trinidad and Tobago is one of the best countries in the world and it is your country. Own it.”

Furthermore, he acknowledged the country’s immediate crime challenge. Dr Rowley said this problem affects every citizen and is not being ignored.

He outlined that the Government continues to “ensure that we allocate the resources that are required and are available and affordable to ensure that minor component of our population does not set the tone, does not prevail over the vast majority of us who are law-abiding, normal, aspiring citizens.”

Furthermore, the Prime Minister called on citizens to take responsibility for Trinidad and Tobago. He said, “Let us continue to fight the good fight against the criminal elements. It does nobody any good to beat down the Police Service. It does nobody any good to give the impression that all we can do is to acquiesce to what the criminals want.”

Dr Rowley congratulated the young business executives who were the attendees of the event and urged members of the public to continue to encourage them. He mentioned, “It does nobody any good to indicate that there are no opportunities for young people in this country. Our young people are highly praised and highly prized around the world coming from our education system.”

Prime Minister Rowley noted that Trinidad and Tobago is a country with a bright future. He was quoted saying, “We are a proud nation; we have difficulties like everyone else, but we are handling it with aplomb and with a certain significant measure of success.”
