Zalika Samuels crowned Miss World Guyana 2024

Zalika Samuels has been crowned Miss World Guyana 2024. The 21-year-old won the pageant during the finals held on Sunday evening at the Ramada Princess Hotel in Georgetown.

Five beautiful, young girls reached the finals from different communities to walk for Guyana’s top beauty pageant. 

The winner, Zalika Samuels who represented Demerara-Upper Berbice (Region 10) in the pageant fascinated everyone with her grace, beauty, talent and shone brightly in the competition. 

She also captivated the judges and audience to win the ultimate title of Miss World Guyana 2024.

Zalika Samuels defeated four others to win the Miss World Guyana 2024

The newly crowned Zalika Samuels defeated five other contestants to win the prestigious Miss World Guyana 2024. The other contestants who participated in the competition include,

1.       Naheeryah Newland, representing Essequibo Islands-West Demerara
2.       Lieve Blanckaert, representing Demerara-Mahaica
3.       Rachel Mohabir, representing East Berbice Corentyne
4.       Diana Lopez, representing Potaro-Siparuni

The authorities of Miss World Guyana 2024 appreciated all the contestants for their remarkable poise, talent and charm throughout the pageant.

Zalika Samuels showcased resilience of her cultural roots

During the Talent Preliminary round, Zalika Samuels presented a breathtaking dance performance to “Stand Up” by Cynthia Erivo. Through every step and movement, Zalika showcased the powerful themes of resilience, strength, and the journey toward freedom and empowerment.

Her performance was a tribute to her heritage, honouring and celebrating the perseverance of her ancestors while celebrating their enduring spirit.

She performed in a costume that was made with a beautiful combination of traditional elements and modern flair. Through her dance performance, she inspired others to stand strong during challenging times and embrace their respective journeys.

Zalika Samuels is the reigning Miss Linden Town Week 2023 and Miss Emancipation 2024. She is also currently pursuing her degree in Professional nursing and aims to excel in it with a vision to contribute to the healthcare sector of the nation.

The newly crowned Miss World Guyana 2024 asserted that she is committed to advance her career in nursing and inspire others by promoting literacy and educational opportunities for youth.

Zalika Samuels further went on to highlight about her Miss World journey and said that it means a lot to her.

The winner added that after winning the title, she has now the opportunity to use this platform for promoting youth development and literacy. She noted that she wants to showcase that true beauty lies in one’s actions and dedication to bettering society.

Officials congratulate newly crowned Miss World Guyana 2024

The Minister of Public Works of Guyana, Bishop Juan Edghill extended congratulations to the newly crowned Miss World. The Minister has been a longstanding advocate and proponent of development and progress in Region 10.

He added that this victory by Zalika Samuels reflected her strength, determination and love towards her roots. The Minister further asserted that this victory by Samuels is a testament to her unwavering commitment and dedication towards her passion.

The Deputy Mayor, Dominique Blair also congratulated Zalika Samuels for her well-deserved victory at the Miss Guyana World Pageant 2024.
