West Indies: West Indies wicketkeeper/batsman Nicholas Pooran has been fined 15 percent of his match fee for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the second T20I against India in Guyana, reports Cricket 360.

As per the sources, the former West Indies white-ball captain was found to have breached Article 2.7 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel which relates to public criticism concerning an incident occurring in an international match.

He admitted to the offence and accepted the sanction of a reprimand that was proposed by the match referee, Sir Richie Richardson, the update informed.

In addition to this, one demerit point has been added to Pooran’s disciplinary record, for whom it was the first offence in 24 months.

The incident occurred following the review of an LBW decision in the fourth over of the India innings. Pooran criticized the umpires for having to use up a player review for a decision that he thought was not out.

It was further claimed that the charges were levelled-up by On-field umpires Leslie Reifer and Nigel Duguid, third umpire Gregory Brathwaite and fourth official Patrick Gustard. It is to be informed that level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 percent of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points.

For now, West Indies have been leading the series by 2-1. India won the third match by seven wickets with 13 balls left. West Indies scored 159/5 (20) while India made 164/3 (17.5), and the player of the match was Suryakumar Yadav of India. Currently, India is in West Indies for an official tour, which covers the Testa series, ODI matches and Test matches. The final two T20I matches will be played on August 12 and 13, respectively.
