West Indies Cricket is gearing up for the ICC T20 World Cup which will be played in the Caribbean next June.

                                                    West Indies Cricket is gearing up for the ICC T20 World Cup, which will be played in the Caribbean next June.
The President of Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board, Azim Bassarath stated that West Indies have set up an extraordinary platform for giving a tough competition to the other teams.
The vice-president of the West Indies Cricket commented on the exciting win of the Caribbean cricketer’s as they defeated defending World Cup champions England in the T20 series with a four-wicket win for the home team. The West Indies team also secures victory by 2-1 in the five match ODI series.
Bassarath said, “The win was not surprising, since the month of march, the West Indies have been performing well having beaten South Africa and India in white ball cricket.”
It was also mentioned by the President those men of West Indies Cricket showed their hunger for success. He added that the team worked as a unit and appreciated their team spirit.
Bassarath also welcomed Andre Russell back to the team and stated that Russell has brought a new energy into the team. He added that it looks like as if Russell is enjoying his cricket.
Notably, in the first game, West Indies won by four wickets, with Russell scoring unbeaten 29 runs in 14 balls as well as he took 3 wickets by giving away 19 runs. He was also awarded with the Man of the Match award. In the second game of the series, Russell contributed 14 runs from 10 balls and showed a poor bowling performance in which he gave away 66 runs in 4 overs. But, the second match was also won by West Indies.
In the third game of the series, he scored only 8 runs and took only one wicket and match was also won by England by 7 wickets.
Moreover, in the fourth match, he played a magnificent knock of 51 runs from 25 balls. He took only one wicket. The fourth game was won by England and they tied the series by 2-2. In the decider game, Russell took 2 wickets for 25 runs and through his batting, he contributed 3 runs.
While shedding light on Russell’s contribution, Bassarath said that Russell was not good on field but he was also very influential in the team’s dressing room as he helped in making strategies for the game.
