Caribbean: As Tropical Storm Bret is approaching the Caribbean Region.
According to the update by Mora’s Weather & Multimedia Network, showers and thunderstorms over the Lesser Antilles are associated with a Tropical Wave. This system is not associated with Tropical Storm Bret. The Wave continues to produce areas of showers and thunderstorms, mainly over Dominica southward to St Vincent and the Grenadines.
As per the update, as the day progresses, showers and isolated thunderstorms are forecast to continue over these islands as well as Trinidad and Tobago.
Accordingly, gusty winds, street and flash flooding may occur in heavy showers and thunderstorms.
Tropical Storm Bret in the latest update at 5 am from the National Hurricane Centre, was centred near 12.8°N 51.4°W, moving toward the West at 16 mph. The minimum Central Pressure is 1001 mb and winds have increased to 60 mph. This makes Bret a STRONG Tropical Storm, as per the reports.
Bret is forecast to move across the Lesser Antilles, mainly the Central Windward Islands from Thursday afternoon into Friday.
As per the statement by Mora’s Weather & Multimedia Network, Tropical Storm Watches are currently in effect for Barbados, Dominica, Martinique and Saint Lucia. Tropical Storm Watch is implemented in the region which is under threat of tropical storm conditions for the upcoming 48 hours.
The update has further informed that from now until Saturday, there is a chance of rainfall in the Lesser Antilles region, specifically from Guadeloupe to Grenada, including Barbados. The total rainfall could range between 3 to 6 inches, with some areas experiencing up to 10 inches. This heavy precipitation may result in flash flooding, particularly in elevated areas. Additionally, there is a possibility of isolated urban flooding occurring.
