Trinidad and Tobago: Following the recently concluded Tourism Women’s Forum, hosted by the DoTCAT through its Programme Coordination Unit, inventor Rhona Jack donates U Dazzle Fashion Ruler to SHS Student.
Rhona Jack is the inventor of the U Dazzle Fashion Ruler and was one of the key presenters at the 2023 Tourism Women’s Forum. She was recently inducted into the Intellectual Property Office of Trinidad and Tobago’s Hall of Fame and has filed every possible patent on her invention.
Jack’s presentation at the forum proved her dedication to educating and empowering women in the creative and innovative space. In keeping with this year’s DoTCAT Tourism Women’s Forum theme, “Promoting Women’s Empowerment through Digital, Education, Technology and Innovation”, she expressed her desire to donate one of her rulers as she wanted to give back to her community and believes that her purpose is to share, expose and inspire individuals, inclusive of youths to aspire towards fulfilling their goals, regardless of whatever challenges may confront them.
As a result, on Thursday, 6th April 2023, Jack gifted an autographed U Dazzle Fashion Ruler to DoTCAT Tourism Youth Club member and an ardent Clothing and Textile fifth form student, Miss Jamila Nelson, of the Signal Hill Secondary School (SHSS).
During the presentation, which took place at the Division’s Head Office, Jack expressed that she knew it would be a valuable tool to assist students in their pattern drafting and garment construction, exposing them to the endless possibilities involved in invention and innovation.
Her ultimate vision is to ensure that all schools in Trinidad and Tobago would embrace the ruler as an essential instrument for use by their Clothing, Textile and Fashion Design students.
The Administrator, Suresh Dookhoo, also extended thanks on behalf of the DoTCAT for Jack’s generosity, followed by expressions of gratitude and appreciation by the student, members of the Programme Coordination Unit and SHSS Clothing and Textile teacher Ria Paria for Jack’s donation.
