Port of Spain: Trinidad and Tobago recorded a total of 660 new cases, taking the active toll of the COVID-19 infections to 19,582 in the Caribbean island on February 2, 2022. The data was shared by the Ministry of Health and Wellness in its recent COVID-19 update report.
A total of 11 individuals lost their lives to the deadliest viral disease. With these deaths, total COVID-19 related fatalities in the island have increased to 3,423. Among the deceased, five individuals had multiple comorbidities, three persons had only one comorbidity, and 3 individuals had known no medical conditions.
The data in the report further notes that from March 12, 2020, to the present, a total of 112, 679 confirmed cases of the virus had been recorded by the healthcare facilities.
The total recoveries in the island country rose to 89,674, as fifty-one additional COVID-19 patients were recovered and discharged from the hospital facilities.
The health facilities, till February 2, 2022, conducted a total of 582,512 tests of the novel coronavirus, out of which a total of 265,203 individuals were tested at the public health facilities, and meanwhile, 317,309 COVID-19 tests have been conducted by the private healthcare facilities.
In total, 383 patients are currently in the hospital facilities, ninety-four in the step-down or transition facilities, and a total of 18,445 individuals have isolated themselves at their respective homes.
COVID-19 vaccination statistics:
In Trinidad and Tobago, till February 2, 2022, there are at least 681,027 individuals who are partially vaccinated by taking their first jab of the COVID-19 vaccine, while around 53,511 persons are fully vaccinated by taking a single dose regime, and 638,758 individuals are fully vaccinated by receiving their first and second doses of the COVID-19 vaccines.
On the other hand, there are a total of 112, 223 citizens of Trinidad and Tobago who have received their booster shots.
