Trinidad and Tobago: Only fully vaccinated citizens will be allowed in cinemas, bars, restaurants, gyms and casinos

Trinidad and Tobago: The Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago has announced that only fully vaccinated individuals will be permitted in cinemas, bars, restaurants, gyms and casinos. While from Monday – 27th September, the existing curfew hours will be adjusted from 9 pm to 5 am to 10 pm to 5 am. 

Shedding more light on the matter, Health Minister – Stuart Young noted that the individuals would require to show their proof of COVID-19 vaccination to these establishments. 

The Health Minister further cited that the owners of each establishment will be allowed to operate at 50 per cent capacity and will be required to be staffed with fully vaccinated employees. He stated that the owners of the establishments would be subject to fines as the Government looks to implement a tiered penalty system. 

Besides this, the health minister also informed that with the assistance of the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the Government would launch digital vaccination cards. 

Prime Minister also announced that the students who are vaccinated, particularly of forms five and six, will be permitted to attend face-to-face classes at school from Monday 4th October 2021. 

Additionally, PM Rowley noted that the Government would consider the re-opening of beaches and sporting activities in the time of upcoming two weeks. 

The Health Minister further noted that the citizens who will produce wrong or false COVID-19 vaccination documents to the establishments would have to face serious consequences.  

Prime Minister, along with the Health Minister, urged the citizens to strictly follow the COVID-19 protocols and get themselves fully vaccinated as soon as possible. So far, a total of 564,315 individuals have received their first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine, whereas, in total, 473,097 individuals have welcomed their second jab of the COVID-19 vaccine, and now are fully vaccinated against the deadly COVID-19. 

The island is currently having 4,209 active cases of the COVID-19 mutant, 43,796 individuals have been recovered, and 1,437 individuals lost their lives to the deadliest virus.
