Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago: The Carnival Institute and Regional Carnival (CIRC) of the twin-island nation of Trinidad and Tobago wished to extend condolences to the family, friends, fans, and colleagues of Chutney star Anil Bheem who passed away suddenly earlier this week, on Saturday, February 4, 2023.
Dubbed “The Vocalist,” Bheem worked as a presenter at radio station 103.1 FM and broke the news of his passing. Bheem came from a musically talented family, and his passing has dealt quite a blow to the local Indian music community.
He had been performing since childhood and is the son of singer Prematee Bheem. In a career that spanned many decades, he was the leader of the BMRZ Band and was known both locally and abroad for his performance of not only Chutney but Bollywood songs as well. Just recently, Bheem celebrated a milestone with his fans when his latest song, “The Indian Anthem”, reached 2.4 million views just four months after being uploaded on West Indian Chutney Music YouTube’s channel.
The CIRC took to social media to express grief and also featured a video of his performing his song “The Indian Anthem.”
According to various reports by the news channels, the radio presenter Anil Bheem died unexpectedly, and the sudden death has triggered an outpouring of grief, love and support from artists and fans. The 103.1 FM radio station broke the news of the death at 6:20 am on Saturday.
The post by the radio channel read, “With heavy hearts, we convey the news that our beloved Anil Bheem passed away this morning. We are still trying to process it as this is beyond shocking.” The post further expressed that his 103.1 FM family extends its deepest sympathy to his dear wife Cheryl, daughters, family, friends, colleagues in the industry and legions of fans.
