St Lucian authorities announce COVID-19 protocols for Feb 19 to March 4

St Lucia: The government of the island country has announced new COVID-related protocols, which will be operated next two weeks – from February 19 to March 4. St Lucian has been heading towards normalcy; because of this, some restrictions have been eased as the nation continues to be on a general downward trend in the rate of COVID-19 transmission.

The nation has adjusted the testing protocols and has changed the quarantine measures.

While announcing the new COVID-19 protocols, the government of St Lucia has urged the citizens to follow the COVID appropriate behaviour to protect their families and themselves.

The government further emphasized following health measures during the celebration of Independence Day on February 22. “Our government urges you to follow the public health measures, especially during the celebration of this year’s Independence,” the government stated.

The new COVID-19 protocols by the St Lucian government are as follows –

1.) According to the latest updates, the businesses and the offices can be fully operated in the country, but the operations must be ceased between 11 pm and 4 am each day.

2.) The government has restricted loud music. “Person is not allowed to play loud music, in accordance with the Criminal Code, Cap. 3.01, for the duration of this order,” the government stated.

3.) An event can be hosted only with the presence of not more than 25 people. The St Lucian authority has further asked that the invitees must be fully-vaccinated.

4.) The government added that the person must remain confined to their place of residence to avoid contact outside of their family.

The government further notified that the rest of the COVID-related measures would remain the same.

As of February 17, St Kitts and Nevis had 22,426 COVID-19 confirmed cases, 1,122 active cases. The total deaths reported in the twin-island country is around 354.
