This is from a batch of 126 coronavirus tests conducted at Ezra Long Laboratory, from which 35 were tested positive, and 91 were tested negative for respective tests.

This brings the total number of reported cases in the country to date to 656. All of these cases are Saint Lucian nationals ranging in age from 14 years to 66 years. They are from the Castrics, Vieux-Fort, Anse La Raye, Dennery, Babonneau, Micoud, and Gros-Islet districts.

These individuals were all seen at a community respiratory clinic, where they were evaluated and tested for coronavirus. They were placed in quarantine by health workers pending their covid-19 results.

Upon receiving their test results, arrangements have been made to put all these individuals under proper attention and care. The ministry’s contact tracing team is undertaking necessary follow-up on the contacts of these cases.

The Ministry of Health also reports seven recoveries for Monday, January 18, 2021. There are currently 310 active cases under observation, with one of them requiring critical care and the others are all stable.

The ministry of health & wellness takes this opportunity to remind everyone of the importance of maintaining all the guidelines that can restrict the spreading of deadly coronavirus, frequently washing hands, using sanitizers, wearing masks present when in public places, and make suring of covering mouths, nose, and chin. Social distancing is the key to follow from having an infectious disease at all.

A Facebook user commented, “A lot of hard heads walking around with no sort of protection on their faces! They will never learn until it hit them in the face. Trust me, and this virus is only getting worst.”
