Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Dr Terrance Drew, the Prime Minister and Ministry of Health of St Kitts and Nevis, felt delighted to announce that the government of the twin-island Federation has been working towards the enhancement of the health sector.
In this regard, PM Drew highlighted that the growth of JNF General Hospital is on an accreditation path. He said that the government and the Ministry of health have been working tirelessly to improve the infrastructure and facilities provided by the hospital.
The Prime Minister took an official social media account to update the general public about the ongoing projects.
He mentioned, “Greetings; as we continue to work to strengthen the legacy issues of the healthcare system, we have decided to put the JNF General Hospital on an accreditation path.”
Furthermore, he stated that this means that the services offered at JNF will steadily improve. Thus far, the government and Ministry have added more services, equipment and training, for example – Neurology, Urology services, scholarships for nurses, training for EMTs, more specialists, dialysis machines, anesthesiology machines, ultrasound, new cabinets for oncology, etc.
The social media update by the Prime Minister mentioned that though there are still some gaps to be filled, we have seen a decline in-hospital deaths, which is a very positive sign. However, the efforts must continue.
“Our people deserve this,” he assured.
PM Terrance Drew further extended thanks towards each and every healthcare worker for their sheer dedication towards the betterment of the citizens and residents of St Kitts and Nevis.
He said, “Thanks to all the healthcare workers for their hard work and dedication. I encourage them to remain committed and to redouble their efforts for the benefit of their patients.”
Additionally, he assured me that it would not be done overnight, but the journey has started.
