St Kitts and Nevis: St Kitts National Carnival has introduced the list of contestants of the National Carnival Swimwear Competition on December 5, 2022.
While introducing the Contestant No. 2, the post by St Kitts National Carnival read, “If the plan doesn’t work, change the plan, not the goal,” this is the philosophy of Nevilla Douglas, notoriously known as Kristal, who hails from the small, yet vibrant community of St Paul. It is this quote that inspires her determination and drives for success. Born on March 24th, 2002, she is the last child of both her parents, Christine Douglas and William Belle.
A sporting enthusiast, during her tenure at both the St Paul Primary School and the Saddlers Secondary School, Nevilla showed keen interest in sports, namely, Netball, Track and Field, Football, Volley Ball and also Cricket. She believes that being active keeps you focused, helps to create balance and ultimately contributes to the holistic development that every young individual should have.
In her educational pursuits, Nevilla discovered her love for the Sciences; in particular, Chemistry, as her future goals include acquiring the highest degree possible in the area of Chemical Engineering. Upon completing her studies, she hopes to return to St Kitts and Nevis to contribute to the said industry.
Respective to her family life, Nevilla has sustained unlimited admiration for both her parents, whom she believes tried their utmost best to “make ends meet”, creating and paving the way for her with the many opportunities and avenues that helped to mould her into the amazing young lady that she is today.
Being a member of the SKN Unchained Company since 2019, which taught not only her modelling but also life skills, prompted her twin mission to enter the pageant in an effort to use the platform to promote female empowerment through fashion. She believes that fashion is an important aspect of expressing who we are. Although this is her first pageant, Nevilla believes that no task is unattainable and hopes to use her experience to show young women that they have the ability to create the change and impact that they want to see.
