St Kitts and Nevis CMO Laws announces new COVID-19 travel protocols

St Kitts and Nevis: The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) – Dr Hazel Laws during NEOC COVID-19 press briefing on March 2, 2022 announced the latest Travel Protocols of St Kitts and Nevis Federation.

Firstly, the CMO gave a brief about the vaccines which do not require quarantine on the arrival in the twin-island federation.

According to CMO Laws, “No quarantine for persons coming in with any of the five following vaccines and these vaccines have not yet achieved WHO emergency use listing – these are Abdala, Soberana 2, Soberana Plus, Medigen and Sputnik V.”

Furthermore, she mentioned the protocols for the travellers from Cuba as well as Taiwan. She was quoted as, “Individuals who are coming from Cuba or Taiwan or coming in with any of the three vaccines available in Cuba or the Medigen vaccine available in Taiwan or the Sputnik V vaccine, they would be allowed to come in and they will not have to serve a quarantine.”

COVID-19 in St Kitts and Nevis

The situation of COVID-19 in St Kitts and Nevis is applaudable. As of March 3, 2022, the nation reported only one COVID-19 fresh case, in the last 24 hours. The total number of confirmed cases in the twin-island federation is at 5,531; of these St Kitts have reported 4,694 confirmed cases and Nevis have 837.

The tally of active cases is just at five (5), which are reported by St Kitts; which shows that Nevis has zero active cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection.

The number of recovered cases in St Kitts and Nevis is 5,484, according to the official data of the Ministry of Health and Wellness. The recovered cases reported in Nevis are 830 and remaining 4,654 cases have been registered from St Kitts.

The total number of deaths reported are at 42; of the total 35 deaths have been reported in St Kitts and Nevis has witnessed 7 COVID-19 related deaths.
