St Kitts and Nevis and Singapore forge durable alliance in bilateral meeting

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Denzil Douglas, met with Vivian Balakrishnan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Singapore.

During the meeting, the counterparts established and formed a durable alliance.

The meeting was held during the occasion when veteran St Kitts and Nevis leader Douglas was conferred with an Honorary Doctorate Degree by the Netherlands Business Academy, University of Applied Sciences.

While extending his pleasure, Dr Douglas said, “I had the opportunity to engage in a bilateral meeting with Honourable Vivian Balakrishnan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Singapore, during the occasion of being conferred with an Honorary Doctorate Degree by the Netherlands Business Academy, University of Applied Sciences.”

The Republic of Singapore has established a durable alliance with the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, primarily through its commitment to actively participating in international organisations like the United Nations and providing regular training programmes to enhance the skills and expertise of the population of St Kitts and Nevis.

Singaporean Minister Balakrishnan also expressed his pleasure and took social media to wholeheartedly welcome his counterpart from St Kitts and Nevis. “Pleased to welcome Saint Kitts and Nevis Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade, Industry, Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Economic Development and Investment Dr Denzil Douglas,” he noted.

He further stated that as small states, Singapore and Saint Kitts and Nevis are making common causes and collaborating well at multilateral fora, including the United Nations.

“I look forward to more opportunities to strengthen our economic cooperation and people-to-people exchanges,” he stated while anticipating the strengthening of the relation between both the nation.

As per the reports, both ministers – Dr Denzil Douglas and Vivian Balakrishnan, discussed the strategies which will provide a boost to the diplomatic ties. The ministers assured that both nations would work grow the relations and will assist in growing and develop mutually.
