St Kitts and Nevis: 16 students awarded with MOFA and ICDF scholarships to study in Taiwan
Sixteen exceptional students from St Kitts and Nevis were awarded scholarships to embark on their academic journeys in Taiwan at a ceremony held on August 23, 2024.

Sixteen exceptional students from St Kitts and Nevis were awarded scholarships to embark on their academic journeys in Taiwan at a ceremony held on August 23, 2024.
These scholarships were presented to the students through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) scholarships programme and the International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF) scholarships programme in a ceremony hosted by the Taiwanese Embassy at Palm’s Court Gardens.
The ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew; Deputy Prime Minister, Dr Geoffrey Hanley and Resident Ambassador of the Taiwan to the Federation, Michael Lin; Cabinet Secretary Dr. Marcus Natta and family members of the scholarship awardees. All these delegates extended their warmest wishes and encouragement to the students.
During the ceremony, Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew extended congratulations to all the 16 students who were presented with scholarships to pursue tertiary education at universities in the Republic of China (Taiwan).
He also thanked Taiwan for extending these scholarships and added that this is the highest number they have received thus far. He asked all the awardees to cherish this opportunity and utilize it to the fullest.
The Prime Minister encouraged the 16 students to work hard and make the best use of their learnings, knowledge and skills to contribute to the development of the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis.
The Taiwanese Embassy in St Kitts and Nevis also sent their best wishes to the 16 awardees. They stated that they are optimistic that these students will make the most of this incredible opportunity, gain new insights and experiences, maintain lifelong friendships and achieve great things.
They added that as these students have headed off to Taiwan, they have become not just the students but the ambassadors of St Kitts and Nevis. They asked all these awardees to embrace this adventure filled with knowledge, learning, and joy with open hearts and minds and continue to make their nation and countrymen proud.
Moreover, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education also extended best wishes to the 16 scholarship awardees who are on their way to achieving academic success. For the same, he thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and the International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF).
He also extended his deepest gratitude to the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) for their unwavering support in providing these scholarships to those 16 students. He added that he is extremely grateful and as a Minister of Education, he pledges to use it to the fullest and make a positive impact.
“We wish these scholarship recipients the very best and encourage them to continue making their nation proud,” noted Dr Geoffrey Hanley.
